Mining & Tourism Conference 2011
Three delegates from Arebbusch Travel Lodge attended the Mining and Tourism Conference that was held in Swakopmund on the 13th of May 2011. Arebbusch Travel Lodge would like to thank the Hospitality Association of Namibia – www.hannamibia.com – for hosting the conference as well as Bannerman Resources – www.bannermanresources.com – for co-sponsoring the event.
An important step in the way forward from this conference is action in respect of the 6 working groups and projects that were identified:
1. Re-shaping the Welwitschia Drive.
2. Re-locating the Moon Landscape Viewpoints.
3. Protecting and promoting the World War One Sites.
4. Protecting and improving the Swakop River Valley as a tourist destination.
5. Improving the Kuiseb Delta as a tourist destination.
6. Improving the Spitzkoppe as a destination.
There was also talks of establishing a Mining & Tourism Marketing Initiative whereby the Mining sector would help to market Namibia as a tourist destination.
Watch this space for updates on the above.
