About the Quiver Tree Forest

Quiver trees are a species of aloe, Aloidendron dichotomum, that can live for centuries. Some of the specimens in this forest are around 250 years old.

The plants have a curious upside-down look and are considered a symbol of good luck in local folklore. In times gone by, the San people used its branches to make quivers for their arrows, hence the common name for this tree.
