Windhoek is filled with enough big city action, malls, nightclubs, restaurants and outdoor amusements to charm every visitor.

Music buffs can take a trip down memory lane on 7 December 2016, when Johan Liebenberg pays tribute to Neil Diamond at the Warehouse Theatre; while party animals can bop until they drop at Club London, The Boiler Room or 264 most nights of the week.

Nature lovers never have a shortage of things to do in Namibia, Windhoek itself is filled with open-air attractions to woo the outdoor enthusiast.

The National Botanical Gardens never disappoint, with gorgeous displays of indigenous Windhoek vegetation in all its glory as well as exhibitions of the Kunene and Namib Desert habitats. On Saturday 10 December 2016, the gardens will be hosting one of their informative guided walks which provide further insight into these interesting plants.

Slightly further afield, the Daan Viljoen National Park is found along the C28 towards Swakopmund, and provides ideal opportunities to lap up the summer sunshine while enjoying a picnic in the beautiful surroundings of the Khomas Hochland. The park’s three marked trails offer a chance to spot antelope, zebra, baboons and dassies while exploring, and a swimming pool is at hand for watery sunny-day fun.

Looking for a unique gift for that special someone? The Namibian Craft centre on Tal Street has stalls filled with locally created modern designs, including jewellery, fabrics and hand-crafted baskets. Finish off your spending spree with a meal at the quaint café located in the centre afterwards.

Come Christmas Day you can look forward to the real deal with Arebbusch Travel Lodge’s Christmas Lunch, which promises to feature a variety of meat and vegetarian dishes to satisfy your festive cravings. Bookings are essential for this popular event.
